It’s another day for me here in Dubai, today I’ll be going to “Mirdif” the closest mall in where I’m staying. Rose gave me the number of Dubai Transport where I can request for a taxi. It took me around 45 minutes to wait for a taxi.
I also spoke with Cholo and Myles in Thailand, and they both gave me names and numbers to call here in Dubai, Myles has a friend who works in an advertising company.
I’m now here in Mirdif, it’s a high end mall, like Greenbelt of Makati, but not as big as Greenbelt. Took me around 25 minutes getting here. There are lots of signature brands here, went to Starbucks to go online but it’s not free, I have to buy an internet card which costs 20 Dirhams per hour, that’s around 250 pesos, everything here is expensive, only the air is not.
Then I went online, got the chance to chat with my Manager and officemates, sent some reports, pictures and proposal to prospect distributors in Dubai.
Then I went inside Spinney’s they said it’s like Rustan’s of Manila, quite expensive here compared to Carrefour. Talked to a Filipina staff there, she said Spinney’s has a total of 21 branches all over UAE and they also sell Filipino products. I’ll be waiting till next week to talk to their purchasing manager and I hope everything will be good. Wish me luck!
I went to the “non-muslim” section of the stores and there I saw some Filipino products, mostly are Purefood products, hotdogs, canned goods, other cold cuts and even pork chicharon. I noticed on those canned goods that there is a mark that says “Not for Muslims” “For UAE market only” “Display at pork counter only”
After here I went back to the house of my friend, contacted Myles’ friend and said she has some information’s that might help me, we will meet tomorrow in Jumeirah, she said she can also gave me a quick tour of Jumeirah Beach during her break.
Then I helped Tim cooked our dinner, ate some sea foods, washed dishes and took a rest. And that’s my day today. See you guys tomorrow.
